Zainab Altaf

Ms. Zainab Altaf is a public policy consultant with multisectoral experience related to governance and policy reforms.

She has served as the Monitoring &Support Lead for the Chief Minister’s Special Monitoring Unit, Punjab, with a particular focus on the education, tourism, and skill development sectors.She has also contributed to the capacity building and strengthening of local governments through GIZ’s‘Support to Local Governance’ Programme (LoGo I &II) in Pakistan as a technical expert.

Zainab was the communication, community engagement, and gender expert forthe Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Programme (PICIIP II), where she ensured the integration of gender safeguards and community input in the ODBM models for the WASH sector, along with designing the first citizen-centric communication strategy for municipal agencies across Punjab.

She has alsodelivered trainings on innovative approaches towards policy making and implementation to civil servants during her time at the Centre for Public Policy & Governance.As the project lead for the Pakistan Learning Festival, Zainabcurated community mobilization campaigns and social movements for school education for all children across Pakistan, with special consideration towards socio-economically disadvantaged groups in remote geographies.She is a frequent contributor to national publications and continues to support cultural diplomacy through her writings and travelogues.

Zainab has a MPhil in Public Policy & Governance from Forman Christian College University, Lahore. She also holds a master’s degree in Postcolonial literaturesfrom Kinnaird College University, Lahore.

She is currently a Pakistan Fellow at the U.S Department of State’s American Council of Young Political Leaders.
